The world is changing faster and faster. New modes of communication, huge amounts of available data, the ease of transportation or advances in industry are just some of the accelerators of the transformation we are experiencing today. Yet progress is also a two-sided coin, as we face global challenges such as climate change, pandemics, nationalism, and geopolitical tensions, etc. These challenges have transcended the boundaries between countries and, therefore, a joint approach between policymakers and academics becomes the most effective way to meet them. Global governance is an emerging area of research and its formalization requires agreed international guidelines.

The Study Group on Global Governance at Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University is an initiative of the Una Europa Global Governance Research Group. It has been created to build bridges between policymakers and academics to jointly tackle global governance challenges. It has an interdisciplinary approach, as it aims to address issues from a wide range of perspectives. It is composed of a Board of Policymakers and an Academic Board.

The Academic Board is an interdisciplinary team formed by the members of the Una Europa Global Governance Research Group. They are senior researchers from the eight universities that form the Una Europa Alliance, and come from different areas such as economics, law, politics, international relations, computational methods and statistics. This board is open to cooperation with other academics.

As all study groups from the Real Colegio Complutense, this one is guided by a shared spirit of openness, flexibility and cross-cultural collaboration. It is the perfect fit for persons willing to share ideas and research, in order to discuss new approaches to common topics in different fields. We want to facilitate the flow of communication among scholars and other individuals who are experts in their field, by the presentation and dissemination of high-quality research.

At a practical level, we are planning to organize seminars on global governance and also to act as a catalyst for disseminating the findings and views of various reports from different Harvard Centers and Schools. We will be happy to support spreading their research in the academic world.
