The Current Spanish and Catalan Political Situation

RCC is pleased to announce this event to be held at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University, featuring Andreu Mas-Colell, Former Conseller of Economy in the Catalan Government and Professor of Economics at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona. Chaired by RCC Director, José Manuel Martínez Sierra, Jean Monnet ad Personam Professor in EU Law and Government.

On December 2015, the Catalan Parliament has approved a road map to get the independence from Spain in 18 months. The new Catalan President, elected on January 12, took the mentioned road map as a governmental priority. Andreu Mas-Colell, former Conseller of Economy of the Catalan Government until January 13, played a key role as a negotiator between the Spanish and the Catalan Government during the last 5 years. In his talk he will point out the main political and economical challenges that both governments are facing in the near future and all possible scenarios taking into account the European Union response.
