The complement system is a complex network of more than 50 proteins whose function has been considered until now part of the innate immunity. In the last 20 years, complement receptors and regulators have been characterized to be expressed in immune cells, and specifically, complement regulation of lymphoid cell function has evolved humongously since new signaling pathways and complement protein synthesis have been identified. Here, we are going to overview the main points of integration of complement system cues in lymphocytes.
