In recent years, Cold War scholars have pointed out the need to study this conflict beyond the bipolar confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union. The study of cultural productions and intellectual cooperation (the cultural Cold War), and the strategies that countries in the Global South adopted to navigate this difficult international landscape provide some alternative frameworks to examine this conflict. Traducciones, encuentros y desencuentros en la historiografía latinoamericanista de la Guerra Fría [Translations, agreements, and disagreements in Cold War Latin Amerianist Historiography] combines these perspectives to shed new light on the impact of the Cold War on the academic field of history in Mexico and in the United States. The study seeks to contribute to this renewed look at the Cold War by focusing on translations of works in the field of the history of ideas that were carried out in the context of the cultural cooperation between Mexican and American historians during the first two decades of the Cold War.
