STEAM Education aims to provide an integrated approach for teaching science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Since the beginning of the 21st century, this movement, first called STEM and now STEAM, is experiencing an enormous boom around the world as it is advocated by political, educational and economic institutions. Essentially STEAM is currently considered a promising way to break down the barriers of the various disciplines, promoting integrated learning, closer to real problems, allowing the inclusion of engineering and problem solving from an early age, fostering creativity and promoting gender equity.

In this talk we will discuss this new STEAM paradigm by deepening on its conceptualization, analyzing the points that are still under debate within the scientific community and different methodologies to carry it out. In addition, we will show several examples of STEAM projects developed by the Research, Build and Create Group of the University of Alcalá, Spain.
