European Monetary Union Governance and the European crisis

RCC is honored to sponsor this event featuring Joaquin Almunia, former Vice-President, former Commissioner for Competition and former Commissioner Economic and Financial Affairs, European Commission and Paul Tucker, Senior Fellow Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard Kennedy School and former deputy governor for Financial Stability and member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of England.  

This lecture attempts to examine some of the recent changes in the Decision Making-Process and Governance in the Eurozone as a response to the European crisis. It will analyze the role of the different actors (ECB, European Council, European Commission, National Monetary Authorities, etc…). It will also examine some of the key challenges confronting the Monetary Union Governance and discuss the perceived distance between citizens and Monetary Authorities in the EMU.
