The EU as a Single Legal Block: towards a potential EU Foreign Tax External Policy

Ricardo Garcia Antón is a Senior Research Associate at IBFD. He was educated at the University of Seville, where he graduated in Law in 2002. He holds a master’s degree in Taxation from the Instituto de Estudios Fiscales/University of Seville (Spain) and an advanced LLM in Comparative, European and International Law from the European University Institute (EUI).He received his PhD from the EUI in 2015. Prior to joining the EUI in 2010, he worked for seven years as a tax practitioner at Deloitte, PwC and at one of the major law firms in Spain (Perez-Llorca) in the field of taxation, concentrating on due diligences/tax audits, M&A transactions and tax opinions related to tax disputes.
His research interests are focused on European taxation and international tax law. He has published several articles in the former field, namely on the interaction between the preliminary reference procedure and the substantive developments of EU direct taxation, which was the topic of his PhD.
He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association.
