Victor Jiménez Cid got his PhD in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in 1996 under the tuition of Miguel Sánchez Pérez and César Nombela, then made his postdoctoral research in the lab led by Jeremy W. Thorner at the University of California at Berkeley. Full Professor since 2018, his research focuses on the molecular and cell biology of the yeast S. cerevisiae; specifically in the study of cell signaling processes, as well as its exploitation as a model for the development of bioassays for the study of genes related to human pathologies (infectious disease, inflammation and cancer). He coordinates The Master of Microbiology and Parasitology at UCM, as well as MicroMundo, a Citizen Science and Service-Learning project in Microbiology and Public Health widespread in 30 Universities in Spain and Portugal, focused on the rational use of antibiotics. He is the President of the Teaching and Dissemination Division of the Spanish Society for Microbiology, and Academic of the Spanish Royal Academy of Doctors, and Corresponding Academic of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy. At the RCC in Harvard University, he co-chairs with Drs. Charles Evavold and Jonathan Kagan the Study Group “Synthetic Biology in Human Health”.
