Unai Iriarte Asarta has a B.A. in History from the University of Salamanca (2011-2015), a M.A. in Advanced Studies in History from the University of Seville (2015-2016), a M.A. in Education Training from UNED (2017-2018), and a PhD in Ancient History from the University of Seville (2022). He was a a Predoctoral (April 2018 - February 2022) and Postdoctoral Researcher in the Ancient History Department at the University of Seville (February - June 2022).
He has been a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley (2016), University of Bologna (2017), Freie Universitaet of Berlin (2018), Oxford University (2019 and 2021), the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (2020), and Cornell University (2022). Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of the Classics at Harvard University (2022-). During his research stay at Harvard, Dr. Iriarte Asarta is working on a project entitled "Ancient Greece in Modern Times.” He is exploring how the Greek past has been instrumentalized since the 16th century to the present. Apart from Classical reception, he also has other research interests, such as Archaic Greece, the history of Athens and Sparta, and ancient and modern historiography.
