Pedro Morillo Tena
Pedro Morillo received the M.S. degree (1998) in Computer Engineering from the University of Valencia (Spain) and the Ph.D. (2004) from the same university, with a dissertation titled “Improving the Performance in Distributed Virtual Environments”, which was distinguished with the Doctoral School’s Extraordinary Ph.D. Award.
He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Valencia, where he leads several research initiatives focused on distributed virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) systems, advanced human–system interaction, and multimodal man–machine interfaces (MMI) applied to telemedicine and industrial contexts. His scientific work combines human-centered design and high-performance computing to enhance the usability and scalability of interactive systems.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Morillo has held visiting scientist positions at several international universities, including Iowa State University (Ames, IA, USA, 2004), University of Louisiana (Lafayette, LA, USA, 2006), Chung-Ang University (Seoul, Korea, 2009), and University of Arkansas (Little Rock, AR, USA, 2017), with which he continues to maintain active research collaborations.
From 2015 to the present, he has held several university-level leadership roles related to academic program development, innovation in higher education, and digital transformation strategy.Since November 2023, he serves as the Delegate of the University of Valencia to the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University (RCCH), a position he combines with his responsibilities within the Executive Management Team of the University of Valencia.
