Juan José Arroyo Paniagua has a B.A. in English Studies from Complutense University of Madrid and an M.A. in North American Studies from both Complutense University and Alcalá de Henares University. He is also a specialist in Masculinity Studies from Universidad de Castilla La Mancha. Juan José is currently a doctoral candidate in Literary Studies at Complutense University. He has an FPU scholarship which he got in the course 2020-21 and he is a researcher in the research group “Gender Studies in English-Speaking Countries.” His doctoral thesis, directed by Dr. Carmen Méndez, investigates the various representations of masculinity in the works of Cormac McCarthy. The different lines of investigations and interests of Juan José also deal with English and North American literature, as well as film studies, television shows, and videogames. Juan José has read papers in Spanish and European conferences and has published in Revista de Estudios Norteamericanos. In September 2019, he was invited to give a lecture at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada, as part of the North American Studies Lecture Series, where he gave a lecture on McCarthy's No Country for Old Men.
