Irene is a General Health Psychologist, graduated at University of Seville. In the second year of her Master´s degree, she started her research career with a temporal research assistance contract under the European Youth Guarantee program 2014-2022. Since then, in collaboration with the Virgen de la Macarena University Hospital, her investigations had been focused on the exploration of the biopsychosocial profile in patients with Multiple Sclerosis and their caregivers. She is particularly interested in pointing out the reciprocal relationship between psychological and clinical variables, in order to demonstrate the need for psychological attendance within the health system.

She was awarded with a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports under University Professor Training Program to continue her studies as a PhD student. Currently, she is on an international research stay at the Neurological Research Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital. Her academic duties include teaching. For three years, she had taught courses in Ethics and Professional Deontology, and Human Personality in the Psychology degree at the University of Seville. As teaching is one of her passions, she has recently published a book chapter on teaching innovation in the subject of Ethics in Psychology through the University of Seville's Teacher Training Program 2021.

To complement her knowledge about human functioning, she does practical training in psychological humanistic therapies.
