Currently, I am Full Professor of Orthopedics at the Complutense University of Madrid and Head of the Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Department at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Madrid. 

My specific interest focuses on Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, where I am Chief of the Unit.

I also serve as Director of the Musculoskeletal Institute at the same center and Director of the Surgery Department at the Complutense University.

I have held the positions of Vice Dean of the Medical School, Medical Director of the San Carlos Clinical Hospital, President of the National Commission for the Specialty of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, President of the Spanish Society of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, President of AO Trauma Spain, and finally, President of the Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology.

I am a member of the Academic Council of the Royal Complutense College at Harvard and Corresponding Academician of the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain.

I have published more than 200 scientific papers, over 90 of them are indexed with an H index of 29, and have participated in more than 40 funded research projects, directing 20 PhD award works. I maintain lines of research focused on articular cartilage, cell therapy, traumatology, and shoulder surgery.

In the social sphere, I have been recognized as one of the 25 most important orthopedic surgeons in Spain (2021) and one of the five with the best reputation in our country (2023).
