Clara Muñoz Castro has a PhD in Pharmacy from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Universidad de Sevilla (US). She has developed her Research at Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) - Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío (HUVR) before joining Harvard for an RCC Postdoctoral Fellowship. 

Her doctoral research was funded through a FPU (University Teacher Training) fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. Clara studied her B.S. degree in Pharmacology at Universidad de Sevilla and she holds a Master Degree in Biomedicine Research from the same university.

Her research is focused on the understanding of the role of glial cells (microglia and astroglia) during the progression of Alzheimer´s Disease in order to find future therapeutical strategies which could improve the lives of these patients.

Recently, Clara has been the recipient of a fellowship from Real Colegio Complutense to carry out a research at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School), in order to investigate the role of astrocytes in Alzheimer’s disease.
