Briseida Sofía Jiménez Gómez is both a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Global Law & Policy at Harvard Law School and a Distinguished Postdoctoral Scholar at the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University. Briseida holds two Bachelors in Law and Business Administration (Murcia University), an LL.M. in European Law (College of Europe, Bruges), a Ph.D. (cum laude, Doctor International Mention) in Law (UCM, Madrid). In 2014 she was admitted into the bar in Madrid. During her undergraduate  education she studied at the University of Strathclyde in United Kingdom. Her research fields are Private International Law, Arbitration, Public International Law, Fundamental Rights, Internet Law and New  Tecnologies.

At the IGLP, Briseida is working on the evolution and consolidation of privacy-related rights contained in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. Her academic focus is very much international and has allowed her to develop a deep understanding of comparative law. In addition to Harvard Law School, she has completed reasearch stays at Humboldt University in Berlin, Max Planck Institute for Comparative Law & International Private Law in Hamburg, Alicante University and the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

She has hold during four years the position of Researcher in the Department of International Law at the Complutense University of Madrid in the framework of a contract granted by the Spanish Government. Briseida’s doctoral dissertation focused on Conflict of Laws issues concerning security interests over intellectual property rights, a topic particularly complex and of high economic significance. Her research work has already been published in the leading Spanish journals. Briseida is a member of the Research Group “International Business Law: Unification and Dispute Resolution” (UCM). Moreover, she has experience in teaching Law in the framework of undergraduated and graduated courses.
