Lucía García Rico

Lucía García Rico is the Rafael del Pino-Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fellow, Project on Europe and the Transatlantic Relationship at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Lucía joined the Spanish Foreign Service in 2006 and has been posted to the Embassy of Spain to Mauritania (2010-2012), the Delegation of Spain to NATO (2012-2016) and the Embassy of Spain to Turkey (2016-2019), with responsibilities in political, consular and cultural affairs. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, she has served as Desk Officer at the UN Directorate (2007-2008), as Assistant Deputy Director at the Spanish Bureau for Gibraltar (2008-2010) and as Deputy Chief of Staff for the Under Secretary (2019-2020).

She graduated in Law from ESADE, Universidad Ramón Llull (Barcelona), and Political Science and Public Administration from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (Madrid). She also obtained a Master´s degree in Defence Policy and International Security from Universidad Complutense (Madrid) and she completed the Advanced Command and Staff Course (National Defence and Security Studies Centre of Spain).
