Workshop on Food, Agriculture and Health

Date:

Friday, May 12, 2017, 9:30am to 5:00pm

Location:

RCC Conference Room, 26 Trowbridge St., Cambridge MA

RCC is pleased to announce the Workshop on Food, Agriculture and Health. The objective of this workshop is to build bridges between Harvard-MIT researchers in Boston MA and researchers in Spain who are affiliated with the Complutense University.

Innovation in the food and agricultural system is key to sustain the productivity growth needed to meet the growing and more diverse demand for food at global level, while preserving environmental resources, and adapting to and mitigating climate change. New developments in science offer promising applications in primary agriculture and downstream industries in food processing and nonfood uses of biomass. The workshop will tackle how agriculture and health are affected by new ways of production.

The workshop will focus on five different sections:

-          Transgenic food

-          Food production and tracking

-          Food safety

-          Food commercialization and distribution

-          Global market and developing countries

Among the Harvard, MIT and Tufts speakers that will participate in this Workshop, are:

  • Elsie M. Sunderland. John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Harvard University
  • Jorge Chavarro. Associate Professor of Nutrition and Epidemiology. Harvard University
  • Kenneth Marc Strzepek. Adjunct Professor of Public Policy Harvard Kennedy School
  • Norbert Wilson. School of Nutrition Science and Policy. Tufts University
