Planning and Gender: The Spanish Experience 2000-2025

My objective is to produce detailed descriptions and analysis of a selection of experiences, plans, and initiatives of gender mainstreaming in urban, transportation and infrastructure development carried out in Spain during the first quarter of the 21st century. These cases will be selected because of their ability to exemplify innovative ways of action susceptible to inspire urban innovations aiming at promoting improved gender equality in urban environments internationally. This work will use as analytical categories the substantive topical areas of action covered, i.e., transportation, housing, facilities, open space, etc. together with the planning tools and at the scale of action these tools are applied, i.e., urban comprehensive plans, regional plans, urban development projects, participatory tools, urban space interventions, pilot projects, participatory process, etc.
