A Man Much for Himself: Masculinities in the Works of Cormac McCarthy

Cormac McCarthy is one of the most important North American writers today. His work is a worldwide object of scholarly study and has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Pulitzer Price and the National Book Award. This seminar presents doctoral candidate Juan José Arroyo Paniagua's research on McCarthy's oeuvre. The seminar aims to present Arroyo Paniagua's investigation on the various portrayals of masculinity McCarthy offers in his works and the approaches Arroyo Paniagua is employing in his analysis. The seminar deals with McCarthy's Tennessee Novels, the Borderland Novels, and what Arroyo Paniagua refers to as 'The Downfall Works'
