The European Conference 2018 is the sixth edition of an event dedicated to Europe. It is presented by graduate students at Harvard, MIT Sloan and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. On its sixth annual occasion, this student-led conference , the largest of its kind in North America, will bring together a thrilling and unique combination of policy, academic and business leaders to explore what, going forward, the “European way” might be: its challenges, opportunities, and specifics. The 2018 Conference will address the following issues: European Defense in the Making; Europe: Flagship of Free Trade; Rights of the Roma Child: The Struggle to Combat School Segregation in the EU; Europe’s Energy Innovation - Technology, Business, and Policy; Exploring the Territorial Limits of the European Union; International Journalism: A Case Study of Catalonia's Referendum Coverage; Adaptive Solutions to Combat Climate Change; The Future of Europe: Multi-Speed Integration
In addition to a program of world-class speakers including European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager, Ambassador of the EU David O’Suilivan, and Thomas Greminger, Secretary General of the Organisation of Security and Co-operation in Europe, the conference program also features a cocktail reception at the Harvard Art Museum, and a closing piano recital with world-renowned virtuoso Simon Ghriachy.
