In most of the rooms at the Prado Museum, not only are the masterpieces of great painters such as Rubens or Titian to be found, but also the lines of Roman poets such as Ovid. In fact, in Horace´s own words, "As is painting, so is poetry". The close relationship between visual and literary versions of Mythology will be shown in this presentation, as well as a tour of various paintings in the Museum, and an example of the use of art that has been recently implemented also in the study of the Latin language.
En muchas de las salas del Museo del Prado se dan cita no solo los cuadros de grandes pintores como Rubens o Tiziano, sino también los versos de poetas romanos como Ovidio. En palabras del propio Horacio, de hecho, “La poesía es como la pintura”. En la presente charla se mostrará la estrecha relación entre la Mitología pintada y la Mitología relatada, se viajará por diversos cuadros del Museo y se dará un ejemplo del uso del arte que se viene aplicando recientemente también en el estudio de la lengua latina.
