She has developed her Research at Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla (IBiS) - Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío (HUVR) before joining Harvard for an RCC Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her doctoral research was funded through a FPU (University Teacher Training) fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. Clara studied her B.S. degree in Pharmacology at Universidad de Sevilla and she holds a Master Degree in Biomedicine Research from the same university. Her research is focused on the understanding of the role of glial cells (microglia and astroglia) during the progression of Alzheimer´s Disease in order to find future therapeutical strategies which could improve the lives of these patients.
