The post-revolutionary political, social, cultural, ideological, and economic landscapes in the region have been stymied by political instability, sectarianism, extremism, and underlying cross-country variations. The European Union and the United States need constructive and coordinated Middle East and North Africa policies that reflect these vastly different realities and are capable of grappling with the unsolved problem of the Arab Spring's unintended consequences. Bernardino Leon, one of the world's most distinguished voices on foreign policy, will discuss the lessons of the demystified Arab Spring and approaches on balancing the influences of the international community in a region facing difficult choices.

Chaired by: Alan D.
