SUMMARY:Coastal Resilience: Sustainable Development of the Spanish Atlantic Coast
DESCRIPTION:
The Coastal Management Plan of Galicia is a landmark project in the Spanish context that explores a new methodological approach from the perspective of the landscape, proposes an adaptive and anticipatory planning, and elaborates strategies for the protection and planning of sustainable growth of the coastal region. Thus, it challenges the traditional urban planning approach and proposes an alternative reading of the landscape as a system of superimposed dynamics requiring a comprehensive and holistic approach. This professional project is closely linked with a broader dissertation exploring innovative practices in planning for coastal resiliency by critically reflecting on the actual cultural and political meaning of landscape as an infrastructure.

Miriam García García is an Urban planner and Landscape Architect, and Design Co-Director for the Coastal Management Plan of Galicia, Spain.

Contact person: Pablo Pérez Ramos

[[{"fid":"373811","view_mode":"default","type":"media","attributes":{"height":"647","width":"1000","class":"media-element file-default"}}]]
