In 1899, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, along with other distinguished European scientists, received an invitation to participate in Clark's Decennial Celebration. Cajal delivered three lectures and was honored with the degree of Doctor of Laws. With his insatiable thirst for knowledge, Cajal extended his stay in Northeastern United States, exploring various sites of intellectual interest, including Columbia University, Harvard University, and New York University (NYU).
The 125th anniversary of Santiago Ramón y Cajal's visit to the United States represents an opportunity to bring together prominent scientists, researchers, and scholars from both Spain and the United States to discuss current advances in neuroscience, highlighting Cajal's pioneering legacy and contributions to the field. To commemorate this, ECUSA (Spanish Scientists in the USA) in collaboration with Spanish institutions and researchers is organizing an event in New York City with keynote lectures, panel discussions, and an exhibition honoring Cajal's figure and contributions, as well as his photographic journey during his visit. This event will not only commemorate Cajal's historic visit to the United States but also serve as a forum to foster scientific collaboration and promote innovation across the Spanish and American scientific communities.
