Since the origin of the discipline of psychology, the study of women and gender has been neglected and women have been misrepresented in its research and theories. The classical theories of this scientific discipline contributed to the disadvantage of women by failing in incorporating them and producing a biased science.
From the feminist movement of the 1960s onwards, a new body of research on gender and women grew exponentially and these issues have become a major focus on psychological research.
