DESCRIPTION:<p style="text-align: center;">	<drupal-media data-entity-type="media" data-entity-uuid="6bd662ab-8d41-4b19-9c6a-51b0aa3246eb" alt="AGORA"></drupal-media></p><p style="text-align:justify">	<span lang="EN-US"><span style="line-height:107%">We will screen and discuss the Spanish movie Agora. </span></span>This biographical movie tells the story of Hypatia of Alexandria (c. 350–370; died 415 AD) a female philosopher, astronomer and mathematician<span lang="EN-US"><span style="line-height:107%">; and one of the most influential -although overlooked- scientists in history. In this film, the relationship between religion and science is highlighted in an historical framework of deep social changes and religious turmoil. </span></span>Hypatia fought to preserve the Greek mathematical and astronomical heritage and challenged the Geocentric Ptolemaic system in an extremely difficult historical context. <span lang="EN-US"><span style="line-height:107%">Our goal is highlighting the importance of this female scientist and explaining her most relevant contributions through cinema.</span></span></p><p style="text-align:justify">	<span lang="EN-US"><span style="line-height:107%"><strong>Speakers: </strong></span></span>Eva Gil González, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard John A.
