There is great difficulty in reaching consensus on educational policy in most countries as political parties are not willing to assume the short-term costs of long-term educational goals.
The Escola Nova 21 alliance is a three-year initiative with a strategy aimed at overcoming structural obstacles to educational reform. Its founder and Director, Eduard Vallory, will share his experiences at the helm of this initiative, an unprecedented alliance between civil society actors and schools that has managed to foster alliances between public and charter schools with many different characteristics. Escola Nova 21 has created school networks for educational reform linked to municipalities and has managed to create cross-cutting components in public policy and provide a new standard for educational quality assessment. Furthermore, it has managed to profoundly impact public narratives related to parental expectations and in the mindset of teachers and higher education institutions.
This talk will be of interest to all educators focused on comparative and international education or that are directly involved in public policy, particularly through civil society organizations and government institutions that seek ambitious educational reform.
