SUMMARY:EU Security Law and Terrorism
DESCRIPTION:
In response to the terror attacks in 2015, France has invoked for the first time in the history of the EU, the mutual assistance clause of the EU’s Lisbon Treaty requesting military help from its EU partners. Soon after, the European Council adopted a long-awaited “EU Global Strategy”, which calls for a stronger Europe in security and defense. This presentation places EU security law in context of the new “EU Global Strategy” and asks what role the use of force rules should have and how we should interpret the mutual assistance clauses in times of hybrid security threats in Europe.

	<drupal-media data-entity-type="media" data-entity-uuid="8ff7484d-a554-4a16-9ca6-549a53ca1709" alt="ivana"></drupal-media>

Speaker: Ivana Stradner, Visiting Scholar at Center for European Studies at Harvard University
