RCC is honored to announce that member of the [RCC Academic Council](/people/peopletaxonomy/academic-council) [Estrella de Diego](https://www.ucm.es/dep-arte-contemporaneo/diego-otero,-estrella-de), Professor of Art History at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, has been appointed member of the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts [Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando](http://www.realacademiabellasartessanfernando.com/es).

Estrella de Diego is a professor of contemporary art at Madrid’s Complutense University and has been a guest lecturer at many universities in Spain and in other countries. She has held several posts throughout her career, including the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Chair in Spanish Culture and Civilization at New York University (1998-99). Her research focuses on gender theory, visual and postcolonial studies and the origins of modernity. She has curated many exhibitions, including *Warhol on Warhol* (La Casa Encendida, Madrid), and has written several books, such as *Tristísimo Warhol* (Editorial Siruela, Madrid, 1999).
