We are pleased to invite you to the dissertation of Dr. Miguel Ángel Violán on The rhetorical strategies of the most successful TED Talks. The talk summarizes the results of his doctoral thesis "Analysis of the rhetorical structures of TED Talks and the concept of Discursive Intelligence", defended in Barcelona in April 2023.

The speaker analyzes the key success factors for a TED Talk to have an impact while, inspired by the theory of multiple intelligences of Dr. Howard Gardner, he coined the concept of Discursive Intelligence. This concept is a powerful tool to analyze the speeches of others and to be inspired for the elaboration of one's own speeches.

Dr. Miguel Ángel Violán is a long-time journalist (press, radio and TV) and professor of Persuasive Communication at EAE Business School and at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona.

His current lines of postdoctoral research focus on glossophobia (fear of public speaking) and public speaking in managers, entrepreneurs and teachers.
