 Teaching practices in Higher Education are still moving from a ‘spoon-feeding’ to a ‘learning facilitation’ mode. Meanwhile, students are dealing with a rapidly changing society that demands abilities with an immediate practical application. In this context, pedagogical innovation will provide lecturers with the appropriate knowledge, skills and tools to facilitate students’ learning development and promote authentic transformative learning.

 In this session, participants will be invited to reflect on the role of pedagogical innovation in tertiary education settings. The speaker will first present some key concepts associated with innovative teaching and learning. Then, some approaches and methods that can best suit the higher education classroom will be analyzed and discussed. At all times, participants will be invited to consider how they can incorporate these practices into their teacher repertoires.
