The recent development of new materials based on organic semiconductor compounds shows a great promise in a wide range of advanced applications. For instance, new organic photovoltaic (OPV) materials constitute a very promising alternative for the development of highly efficient solar cells. Another relevant application is the design of new organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) for optoelectronic devices, such as high-resolution flat panel displays and lighting sources.The talks of the present session will describe some recent and relevant efforts in the use of advanced computational methods for the discovery of high-performance organic semiconductors. In particular, the presentations will focus on the use of High-Throughput Virtual Screening for the discovery of novel OPV and OLED materials, the introduction of novel Deep Learning techniques, and efforts to include solid state effects in the description of these promising compounds.
This session consists on several talks performed by the following researchers from the Aspuru-Guzik Research Group from Harvard University:
* Alán Aspuru-Guzik, Professor
* Rafael Gómez Bombarelli, Postdoctoral Researcher
* Steven López, Postdoctoral Researcher
* Salvador León Cabanillas, RCC Visiting Fellow
