 First year students often lack an adequate background to fully profit some university courses. In Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, we are working in a virtual learning environment that allows us to cover these gaps in the student’s curricula. In this talk, I will explain the tools we have developed as well as our experience with the first year physics course.

 Linked to the Postdoc Seminar in Innovative Teaching, different talks will be held at RCC concerning strategies for predocs and postdocs to be successful in the job market. The aim of this initiative is to show the best ways to improve your skill set and to develop ideas and mechanisms in both Spain and US.
