RCC is pleased to announce this talk by Prof. [Francisco Prado-Vilar](/people/francisco-prado-vilar), RCC Fellow and Scientific Director of the [Santiago Cathedral Project](/santiago-cathedral-project-0).

On the occasion of the celebration of the 91st Annual Meeting of the Medieval Academy of America, which will take place on February 25-27 in Boston, Francisco Prado-Vilar, Scientific Director of the Andrew W. Mellon Santiago Cathedral Program, and member of the Academy, will offer an introduction to this prestigious institution and to the journal *[Speculum](http://www.medievalacademy.org/?page=Speculum)*. Dr. Prado-Vilar, who has been recently appointed to the editorial board of the book reviews section of *Speculum*, will discuss the history of the Medieval Academy, the opportunities it offers (grants, awards, symposia, conferences), the possibilities for publication in *Speculum,* and a preview of the program of the "91st Annual Meeting” - a conference that will gather in Boston leading international figures in medieval studies on Feb. 25-27.

[The Medieval Academy of America](http://www.medievalacademy.org/) is the largest organization in the United States promoting excellence in the field of medieval studies. It was founded in 1925 and is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The academy publishes the quarterly journal *[Speculum](http://www.medievalacademy.org/?page=Speculum),*and awards [prizes, grants, and fellowships](http://www.medievalacademy.org/?page=Awards) such as the Haskins Medal, which is named for Charles Homer Haskins, one of the founders of the Medieval Academy and its second president.
