MECUSA – Against Gender Violence

Honoring the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November, 25th), The ECUSA association (Spanish Researchers in USA; and within the Women in ECUSA program (MECUSA), is organizing this event to give visibility to problems faced by women scientists  in our current social context and who work in the Boston area and other locations. This activity is open to the general public and everyone is welcome, but we will be giving with special attention to women and the challenges they encounter during work and leisure activities. This event intends to be a forum that provides support and reference to those who have felt harassed, left-out or discriminated against. This event also seeks to raise social awareness by giving the floor to people who, through their experience, represent real cases in which their gender has led to facing obstacles in all areas of science and technology, including both industry and academia. 

The event consists of two parts:

Part 15:30pm to 6:30pm.  People from different relevant associations will give an overview of the services they provide and the initiatives they carry outThe associations that will be presenting include: the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) and Me TooSTEAM.

- Part 2: 6:30pm to 7:30pm. This will be an open discussion with prominent women in STEM.
