The third event of the *Made in the UPM* series will include two seminars about different topics: AI and energy storage. The common ground: the speakers are full of *energy* and like to compose music with *AI* when they are together.

The first seminar aims at equipping researchers with a deep and practical understanding of cutting-edge AI tools, and enable them to leverage these resources for improved efficiency and innovation in their research and development activities. There will be a significant discussion on the possibilities offered by tools like ChatGPT in this regard, but other AIs that revolve around it will also be reviewed, which together provide a new framework for many day-to-day tasks.

The second seminar will focus on a promising solution for achieving complete decarbonization of the future electric grid: thermal energy storage. While renewable energies are gaining popularity and becoming more affordable, it's essential to acknowledge that they can only generate electricity when certain conditions are met, such as sunny or windy weather. However, if society still desires to use electricity at any given time, it becomes imperative to store a portion of the energy generated by renewable sources for later use. Although batteries have gained considerable attention, they present challenges due to their high cost and associated recycling issues. In contrast, thermal energy storage offers a cost-effective and recyclable alternative. This seminar aims to introduce the core concept of thermal energy storage, along with several technologies being investigated.
