With the U.S. midterm elections being held Tuesday, November 6, and the European Parliament elections coming up in May 2019, the effects of globalization have been at the forefront of political debates as its negative side is seen as one of the drivers of the wave of populiism we are seing around the world, while at the same time, the need of an interconnected, globalized economy is defended as one of the keys to mantaining strong democratic regimes around the world.

Our guest speakers will share their expertise and explore the effect of global trade on the current European political landscape and then open the floor for questions and interaction with the students.

Speakers: Pascal Lamy, Former Director General of the World Trade Organization (2005-2013); Joaquin Almunia, Former Vice-President, European Commission; European Commissioner for Competition (2010-2014); European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs (2004-2010); Visiting Professor in Practice, London School of Economics and Political Science.
