The Real Colegio Complutense (RCC) is calling all local visual artists to participate in its second annual art exhibit, that will be held from April 28th to May 21th

Who we are The RCC, a non-profit organization, was created in 1990 by Harvard University and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), aimed at providing academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between Harvard University and the Spanish system of Higher Education. It promotes and develops activities in every realm of the knowledge triangle. This 2016 exhibit is also part of the “Arts First” events. “Arts First” is a series of artistic activities taking place at Harvard University in early May. The First Arts Exhibition was on 2011 and was a great success, more than 300 pieces participated in the Call for Artist and, among them, 50 were selected.

Along with Harvard Arts First, this exhibit will participate in the Cambridge Open Studios events taking place on May 14th and 15th.

Artistic Theme The theme of the exhibit will be “Spain”. The artwork submitted must depict images related to the country of Spain, giving a view or suggesting an idea about its people, culture, history, landscape or architectural style prevalent in the country.

Media and Size We have a limited space, so we are seeking to display two dimensional pieces of any kind and style (no sculptures or installations). Paintings, photographs, collages, or mixed-media, 2D pieces of up to a maximum of 36” (including frame) on either side will be considered.

Location and Dates of the Exhibit Art pieces selected will be displayed in the gallery room and common areas at the RCC, located in 26 Trowbridge St. in Cambridge. Those areas do not have professional attributes such as direct lighting, climate control or security. The exhibit will run from April 28th to May 21th, 2016.

There will be a reception with the artists on April 28 at 6 pm, at the Real Colegio Complutense.
